How it works

One search. More places to look.

Lost & Owed is a research and organization tool. We surface opportunities and explain them in plain language; you decide what to pursue and file directly with the official source.

1. Tell us who and what to search

We ask for names you have used, the states and cities you have lived in, an approximate age range, and an email. That is enough to narrow public records. We never ask for a Social Security number, bank credentials, or any password.

2. The Owed Hunter checks category by category

State unclaimed property, court and bankruptcy funds, settlements, recalls, refunds and rebates, benefit programs, and deceased-relative property. You can watch each category as it is checked.

3. Review possible matches, not conclusions

Every result is labeled Strong match, Possible match, or Worth checking, and lists the reasons it surfaced. Shared names are common, so nothing is presented as certainly yours.

4. Follow guided filing steps

Each opportunity has a plain-language explanation, an eligibility checklist, what you may need, and a link to the official site. You complete the official form yourself.

5. Track what you filed

Save confirmation numbers, submission dates, and expected response windows in the claims tracker, so nothing gets lost between filing and payment.

6. Let The Owed Hunter keep looking

Optional monitoring re-checks your saved profile over time, alerts you to new strong matches, and reminds you before deadlines pass.

Avoid recovery scams. Official agencies do not ask for payment up front to release your own property, and they will not request bank logins or passwords by phone or email. If a site asks for a fee before you see the money, stop and verify with the official source.
